What elements constitute a modern government? Using these elements discuss the view that African governments are modern.

Using case studies of Morocco and Nigeria, discuss the impact of pre-colonial political systems on modern systems of governance in these two countries.

To what extent is the process of state formation in pre-colonial Africa a product of economic factors?

To what extent does class, organizational materialism and strategic action approaches the mode of governance in Africa?

Discuss the colonial systems of Administration in Africa. Do you think colonial political legacy has determined the nature of governance in modern Africa?

To what extent can one argue that constitutional reforms in Africa provide the basis for sustainable democracy? Use case studies of Uganda, South Africa and Kenya.
