Answer ALL Questions. (Each question caries 5 marks)

If the probability of a male insect emerging from a pupa selected at random is 0.65, what is the probability that 8 pupa will result in 3 females.

An ecologist studying the abundance of the rare Sitatunga antelope within Ruma National Park counted the following number of animals visiting the only water point in the park on an hourly basis:

The calcium concentration in the coelomic fluid of 13 individuals of a marine arthropod species are found to be: 37.64 mmole/kg with a variance of 9.42 mmole/kg. Calculate the 87.88% confidence interval for the mean calcium concentration in the coelomic fluid of the marine arthropod.

A normally distributed population of 689 ten-month old children have a mean weight of 12.4 kg and a standard deviation of 6.2kg. How many children weigh between 9.3 and 15.5 kg?

Explain the conditions under which data arcsine are transformed.
7.
Outline the features that should be noted when drawing the linear regression line.

A cage contains six rats, two of them white and four of them black. A second cage contains four rats, two white and two black. A third contains five rats, three white and two black. If one rat is selected randomly from each cage, what is the probability that all rats selected will be white?

Data was given on alcohol consumption (4.5% per volume) in a sample of antenatal patients by marital status. Test the hypothesis that amount of alcohol consumption is independent of marital status.

The wing length of 8 adult male pigeons reared under captivity were 27.8, 28.1, 26.9, 27.1, 27.3, 30.5, 28.5 and 26.5 cm. Is their ++mean wing length greater than the known mean wing length for wild pigeons of 24.8 cm?
