1. Imaginative composition (compulsory) (20 marks)
Either
(a) Write a composition ending with the words: “As he was led to prison to start his term, Chalo let out a groan of pain wishing he had not involved himself in corrupt deals.”

Or
(b) Write a composition agreeing or disagreeing with the statement, “Money cannot buy happiness”

2. The Novel (compulsory) (20 marks)
“Archaic practices should be done away with.” In the light of this statement, write a composition on negative cultural practices, drawing illustrations from Coming to Birth.
3. Optional set texts

(a) The short story
