Explain any five benefits of conflict. (10 marks)

b) Interest-based conflict may occur over several issues. Explain any

c) Explain the meaning of the following terms. (6 marks)

2. Using any model, explain ways in which parties/individuals respond to
conflict. (15 marks)

3. a) Explain any five activities that a conflict mediator engages in when
he/she brings together conflicting parties at the negotiating table.
(10 marks)

b) Under which five circumstances may an individual choose to use
the avoidance method in dealing with conflict? (5 marks)

4. a) Define the term gender. (3 marks)

b) Using examples, critically discuss the role of women in conflict
resolution at the inter-group level. (12 marks)

5. One of the characteristics of escalated conflict is that conflicting parties
magnify their differences and minimize their similarities as much as
possible. Using any African state that you have studies in this course,
discuss the above statement. (15 marks)
