SECTION A: COMPULSORY
1. Kenya's vision 2030 describes the three pillars that must be focused on if Kenya has to deliver a 12% annual growth by 2013. Discuss these pillars, their driving sectors of the economy and the challenges faced in its implementation. (20mks)

2. Explain the concept of a nation, its characteristics and assess the impacts of nationalism on the development of a country. (20mks)

SECTION B: Answer Any Two Questions B.

3. For over several decades Kenya has been relying on foreign aid as a source of financing her national development plans. Discuss the consequences of overreliance on foreign aid. (15mks)

4. Kenya is one of the countries facing the challenge of inequality in the distribution of income and wealth. Discuss the main causes of inequality and suggest strategies that the government of Kenya can use to reduce the gap between the rich and the poor. (15mks)

5. Describe the systems of social stratification showing how they have influenced development and suggest measures for upward social mobility. (15mks)

6. Evaluate major issues of globalization and make suggestion on how African countries can benefit from this phenomenon. (15mks)
