family break up. Discuss with reference to the experiences of at least two

quintessential picaro surviving by the power of his wits. Discuss with
reference to the text. (15 marks)

5. Explain the major concerns of Marjorie Oludhe Macgoye in Street Life.
Cite illustrations from the text. (15 marks)

6. In Meja Mwangi’s Kill Me Quick the education system is condemned and
shown not to count for much. Discuss with reference to the experience of
at least three characters. (15 marks)

7. The urban slum dweller is shown to possess an innate humanity that
redeems his character despite his depraved existence. Illustrate this
statement by referring to at least three character traits of Ben in Meja
Mwangi’s Going Down River Road.
