1. i) As a leading journalist you have been appointed to deliver a lecture that support
media regulation by government. Drawing from the Social Responsibility theory
of the press, support the claim that government should regulate media. (20 marks)

ii) Discuss any five characteristics of a good theory. (5 marks)

2. a) Define the phrase agenda setting by the media. (3 marks)

b) Explain any seven factors that explain how media set agenda.(12 marks)

3. i) What is the Johari’s Window? Explain how it helps communicators get a deeper
understanding of interpersonal relationships. Give examples to support your
answers. (10 marks)

ii) State any five insights journalists learn from the Joharis Window? (5 marks)

4. i) Explain the MacLean and Westley’s model of mass communication. Use diagrams
to illustrate your answer. (12 marks)

ii) Use the model to justify the perspective that media contents reflects what
audiences want. (3 marks)

5. Explain the Gate Keeper theory of the press. (15 marks)
