SET 200: ENGINEERING DRAWING III
DATE: MONDAY, 9TH JUNE 2008 TIME: 11.00 A.M. – 1.00 P.M.

INSTRUCTIONS:
i. This paper contains three (3) sections having a total of five (5) questions.
ii. You are required to answer three (3) questions only.
iii. Question 1 is compulsory.
iv. Attempt any other two from the remaining four.
v. Question 1 carries 30 marks and the others carry 20 marks each.
vi. Where letters [AB] appear in a section of a question, this means that the
section is to be answered in the Examination Answer Booklet provided.
vii. Construction lines should be faint and should not be erased.

Question 1
Fig. Q1 shows the details of a conveyor pulley assembly in First Angle projection. With
the parts correctly assembled and omitting split pins in the pulley spindle, draw, full size,
the following views:
(a) a sectional front elevation on section A-A as indicated by the arrows;

(b) an end elevation, looking in the direction of arrow C;

(c) a sectional plan on section B-B as indicated by the arrows and projected from
view (a) in question (a).
Hidden detail is not required in any view.

Question 2
Figure 2 shows two views of a vertical support bracket in 3rd angle projection. Draw the following views full size using 3rd or 1st angle projection and BSI conventions:
(a) The given plan
(b) Sectional elevation on the plane XX.
(c) An elevation looking in the direction of arrow A without hidden detail.
Add a title and scale, and the dimensions and notes necessary for drilling the four holes in the base.
Show machining symbols on the upper and lower faces of the bracket and inside the 58.15 mm bore.
State which projection angle you have used.
