1. In the design and implementation of a Health Management Information System
(HMIS) one needs to take into consideration three broad objectives. As a Health
Information Manager, identify these three broad objectives of discuss using
examples, the specific activities that you would carry out under each of these
objectives. (50 marks)

2. A Health management Information System (HMIS) consists of various
components that must be in place for its proper functioning. Identify these
components and discuss the relevance of the Systems Theory in managing the
functioning of an HMIS. (30 marks)

3. One of the major deficiencies in the design and implementation of Health
Management Information Systems is the lack of integrating evaluation criteria at
their design stage. As a Health Information Manager, discuss issues that you will
need to address before you invest resources on the implementation and operation
of an HMIS. (30 marks)

4. Due to increasing information complexity in health-care enterprises, Health
Information Managers must now operate as Information Brokers. Discuss what
your information brokerage functions and roles would be within the health sector.
(30 marks)

5. Existing Health Management Information Systems face serious design and
operational deficiencies. Identify these deficiencies and suggest possible
solutions to eliminating them. (30 marks)
