QUESTION ONE
a) There are a number o f myths associated with entrepreneurs. Discuss some myths bout
entrepreneurs and comment on whether you believe validity. (8 Marks)
b) Describe the major components of a business plan a and discuss the why the completion o f a
business plan may assist in ensuring the longer-term success of new ventures ( 10 Marks)
c) You are required to write a business plan for Gad Inc , a british firm invoved in the oil industry.
Write a comprehensive industry and human resource sections of its business plan (12 Marks)

a) John Kuria, a self-assured weekend student at KCA University speaks passionately about self
employment and would wish to be self employed when he completes his studies. Discuss the
factors he should consider when preparing for self employment (10 Marks)
b) Entrepreneurs are the catalyst for economic growth in any economy. There are many types of
entrepreneurs such as the craft entrepreneurs. Discuss the consequences of having many craft
entrepreneurs in any economy (10 Marks)

a) The vision 2030 is premised on the fact that entrepreneurship will drive the process. It is however
known that many small businesses in Kenya remain small and hence are not in a position to
compete the global players from the developed world. Suggest some of the ways that the
government could mainstream the small business sector to unleash its potential and drive Kenya’s
economic renaissance (10 Marks)
b) Mr. peter Murray wishes to be an entrepreneur. Infact he wants to be as successful as his role model
Mr Manu Chandaria. The problem however is that he thinks he could start a business today and be
as succsful as his mentor. Murray has approached you to advise on the entrepreneurial process that
he could take. Provide in detail some of the salient issues that you can include in your discussion.

vehicle for accelerating transformation of our country into a rapidly industrializing middle-income
nation by the year 2030. Discuss wheter entrepreneurship has a role to play in the realization of this

b) Research shown that many new businesses fail to survive beyond their fifth birthday. Critically
discuss why many new businesses fail. (10 Marks)

QUESTION FIVE
a) Proponents of business planning posit that business plans are key to the success of a business. There
is however evidence that some businesses fail even if a business plan had been made. Discuss some
of the pitfalls of business planning that reduce the efficacy of the business plan. (10 Marks)
b) ‘ Innovate or perish’ is a slogan which is being bandied in corporate boardrooms. Discuss wheter
this slogan applies to small enterprises as well (10 Marks)
