program on how to help such a learner in your class. [5marks]

4. According to Chall’s (1983) stages of reading development, learners use reading to learn after class three. Explain with examples that importance of this stage. [4marks]

b) Identify the six items contained in the teacher’s Basal Reader guide. [6marks]

11. Discuss how you can integrate “Whole language and code emphasis” approaches when teaching reading. [20marks]

12. a) Describe four characteristics of reading comprehension. [12marks]
b) Elaborate how reading can be taught using “theories instruction” suggested by Williams (1998). [8marks]
