1.(a)Development refers to systematic continuities and changes in the individual
between conception and death. Explain the implications of the underlined words.

(b)Explain the major factors that contribute to development. (4 marks)

(c)Development is interrelated. Discuss how early motor development of an infant
may influence his/her intellectual and social development. (8 marks)

(d) Discuss three theoretical controversies in developmental psychology.(12 marks)

2.After a divorce children fare much better if their divorced parents can agree on how
their children should be raised and support each other’s efforts. Which developmental
theory seems best suited to explaining this finding and how might it do so?(20 marks)

3.(a) A child’s early attachment has an impact on later development. State your
position on this statement using four characteristic ways that measure
attachment. (12 marks)

(b) Suggest four recommendations to parents that would help them influence
attachment security. (8 marks)

4.(a) Using relevant examples, discuss how appropriate the following research methods are in developmental studies in Kenya:
