1 (a) Give a brief description of the following terms
(i) Macro nutrients
(ii) Micro nutrient
(iii)Sodic
(iv) Saline-sodic soil
(b)which soil textures will probably have deficiencies in plant nutrients and why (4 mks)
2 (a) what is 'soil buffer capacity' (2 mks)
(b) Outline three requirements necessary for a material to qualify to be a good lime (3 mks)
(c) In the laboratory determination of lime requirement, a 10g soil sample was found to require 0.4 Cmol/kg of the base to raise its pH from 5.5 to 6.5. Calculate its lime requirement in tons/ha of CaCO3
Note: 1 ha furrow slice= 2.0* 106 kg; Ca=40; C= 12 and O=6 (3 mks)
