SECTION A
1. (a) Using one relevant example for each, differentiate between a „discrete variable? and a „continuous variable?. (3 Marks)
(b) A pupil scored 60 and 88 marks in a Mathematics and Science tests respectively. The mean score for Mathematics was 50 and 83 for Science. The standard deviations for the Maths and Science test are 2 and 5 respectively. In what subject did Kamau perform better? Explain. (3 Marks)
2. State and describe three factors that are likely to influence the validity of a classroom test. (6 Marks)

(b) A teacher collected information on the size of shoes worn by pupils in a class and obtained the following data:

5. (a) State and briefly describe four characteristics of a good instructional objective for young children. (4 Marks)

6. Reliability and validity are important test characteristics. Suppose you have been called upon to develop and oversee the administration of a reading test for 4 to 5 year olds. Explain the measures you would take to ensure that the test is valid and reliable.
