b) both acidic and alkaline permanganate, MnO4- solutions are decolorizing by potassium iodide solutions. (6 marks)
c) Pale green FeC12 dissolves in water but the solution turns rusty brown after some time of exposure to air while FeC13 hydrolyzes in water depositing a rusty brown solid. (5 marks)
Question 4
Briefly discuss the conversion of ilmenite, FeTiO3, to pigment grade TiO2. What are the main uses of TiO2 and what properties make it suitable for each of the uses?
(12 marks)
Question 5
