b) Organizations process data to produce information for decision making and control of operations.

ii. Give an account of the methods which can be used to ensure that data is correct and that corrupt data is identified for correction

a) Explain three major problems associated with the implementation and operation of comprehensive database.
b) What evaluative criteria would you recommend to be applied to a company’s decision of what database management system to acquire?
c) Describe the main categories of system software and explain the factors to be considered when selecting an operating system.

a) An organization is in the process of deciding on whether to use a serial or random access file procedure.
i. What criteria should be used in determining which procedure to use?
ii. What techniques can you suggest to be used to prevent accidental loss or malicious damage to computer files?
b) Briefly explain the importance of the following in information systems:

ii. Synchronous and asynchronous

The rapid change in technology has forced Unga Limited to decide to change its computer applications to meet its data processing needs. The management has approved a recommendation by an outside management consultant to install a new computer system.
Required:
i. What information would be needed in preparing an effective system specification for this project?
ii. Identify the main stages or steps and the various tasks to be performed in the systems survey
iii. Indicate to management where the largest bottlenecks are likely to be encountered in developing such a system and the measures to be taken to ensure successful implementation.
