This paper is divided into three sections A, B, C. Answer three questions, one from each section.
SECTION A: (24 Marks)
1. (a) What is comparative education?
(b) Reflect on the relevance of studying comparative education.
2. What factors have shaped the growth of comparative education since 1945.
SECTION B: (23 Marks)
3. (a) With reference to any two countries in the Southern African region, identify and
discuss the main educational challenges being faced.
(b) How can these challenges be redressed.
4. Discuss the impact of the Cuban revolution in the development of education in that country.
5. (a) With specific reference to Germany, discuss your understanding of the ‘dual system’ of education.
(b) What lessons can Kenya draw from this arrangement.
6. Using specific examples from any African country, discuss key challenges facing educational provision among the pastoralist communities.
7. Critically discuss the view that brain drain in Africa is a function of poor management of public affairs by the states in the post-colonial era.
8. Discuss the prospects of providing free secondary education in Kenya.
