1. (a) Explain the role of Christian ethics for Kenyans in realizing Vision 2030.

(b) Explain why it is necessary for students in our Kenyan universities to study
Christian Ethics [6 marks]
(c) A man attempts to rescue a drowing person but fails. Discuss how this scenario
can be interpreted by both proponents of Deontological Ethics and Teleological
Ethics. [10 marks]
(d) While using Charles Hodge’s concept of “justifiable deception,” explain the
Christian Ethics view on lying. [6 marks]
2. Discuss a biblically sound position on any ONE of the following ethical issues:
a. Abortion
b. Euthanasia
c. Civil disobedience
d. Capital punishment
e. War [15 marks]
3. (a) Discuss three movements which have contributed to antinomianism in the
contemporary world. [6 marks]
(b) Discuss the essential elements of Graded Absolutism based on relevant scriptures.
[9 marks]
4. Discuss briefly at least five biblical characteristics f Christian Ethics. [15 marks]
5. “Jesus faced real moral conflicts but never sinned.”
(a) Use at least four biblical passages to illustrate the truth in the above statement.
[12 marks]
(b) Explain what we expect a Christian to do when he/she is involved in a situation
in which moral absolutes conflict. [3 marks]
6. Critique from a biblical perspective the following five theories that contrast with a
Christian view of what is morally good or right:
a. Might is right [3 marks]
b. Man is the measure [3 marks]
c. Right is moderation [3 marks]
d. Right is what brings pleasure [3 marks]
e. Good is what God wills [3 marks]
7. Many Evangelicals are against hierarchy of Sins and virtues. They operate under the
myth that “all Sins and virtues are equal.” Write a brief essay which gives guidance to
Evangelicals on the above stated issue. [12 marks]
