SECTION A (40 MARKS)
Answer ALL Questions
1. Ethics is defined as Christian Professional Ethics.” Challenge the distortion. [5 marks]
2. Xuma and Valuma had a successful engagement on 1st February 2011. Valuma’s father
declared Valuma as Xuma’s official wife according to their culture. The wedding was
scheduled for 3rd May 2011. But on 3rd March Xuma learned of his appointement as
Kenyans educational attaché to China. He is required to declare is marital status before
10th March 2011. Xuma plans to declare himself married based on their culture and that
has divided their Church into two groups those against Xumas’ decision and those in
support of him. Discuss Xuma’s dilemma according to the:
(a) African Christian ethics [5 marks]
(b) Your personal opinion [5 marks]
Evaluate either (c) or (d)
(c) Conflicting absolutism [5 marks]
OR
(d) No n conflicting absolutism [5 marks]
3. Discuss various arguments in support of or against divorce and clearly state your personal
position on the matter. [10 marks]

5. Compare and contrast John Austin and G.E. Moore’s ethical positions regarding moral
laws to position hold by Charles Hodge. [15 marks]
6. Compare and contrast Kant and John Murray’s ethical position regarding moral laws to
position hold by Charles Hodge. [15 marks]
7. Ndimakusa has been on life support at Gima hospital. On Monday Ndimakusa’s doctors
advice Mrs Ndimakusa and children to request life support be switch off because
Ndimakusa was pronounced clinically death a week ago. Discuss the implication of
switching or not switch off the life support. [15 marks]
8. Jammy and Zena Muhami have been married for ten years without children. They
learned that Zena has low ovulation and weak uterus. A close friend of Jammy
encouraged him to consider one of the following approaches: (a) Jammy gets another
wife if Zena will agree against her Church position. (b) Jammy secretly gets children
with a single woman then bring the children home later. (c) Jammy to consider
surrogacy option. Briefly discuss the ethical implication of each option and conclude
with your personal opinion. [15 marks]
