i. Large animals such as elephants/ buffaloes/cattle/ horses/camels and man, as they move, exert
pressure on the rocks causing the small fragments to disintegrate.
ii. Man activities. Mining/ Earth moving/cultivation and construction of buildings/railways and roads
reduce the size of the rocks into smaller particles.
iii. Bacteria and fungi initiate the breakdown of plant tissues on the surface and within soil.
iv. Organisms such as ants and termites bring to the surface large quantities of fine materials
/promotes weathering as lower layers of rocks become acrated.
v. Earthworms fled on plant tissue and then waste matter helps to cement soil particles.
vi. Roots of growing vegetation force their way into the cracks on the rocks and exert pressure
which eventually splits the rock/roots
