Answers

joseph
a. actual perimeter before reduction
(20 +15)2 = 70
Reduction =70-50
=20cm
Percentage reduction = (20/70) x100%
=28.57%
Ii initial area =20 x15
=300cm^2
Area after reduction = 15 x 10
=150 cm^2
Reduction in area = (300-150) cm^2
Percentage= (150/300)x100%
= 50%
b. solution
i. 4% x20 =0.8 cm
4% x 15 =0.6 cm
New length = 20-0.8
=19.2 cm
New breadth =15-0.6
=14.4 cm
New perimeter =(19.2 +14.4)2
=67.2 cm
Reduction in perimeter =70.0 – 67.2
=2.8 cm
Reduction = (2.8/70) x100%
=4%
ii. Initial area = 20x15
=300 cm^2
New area after reduction= 19.2 x 14.4
=276.52 cm^2
Area difference =23.52 cm^2
Percentage reduction =(23.52/300)x100%
= 7.84%
