A rectangular water tank has a base measuring 4m by 2.5m. This tank has water to a height of 90cm. Water is then pumped into this tank continuously from 2240 hours to 2330 hours at the rate of 1.2 litres per second. Find the new depth of water in the tank after this period of time giving your results in metres.

Answers

John
Time taken = 2330 - 2240

= 50 mins

= 3000 secs

Or 3000 secs - (1.2 x 3000)

= 3600 hires

3600l - 3.6 m3 m

h x 4 x 2.5 = 3.6

h = 36 cm

new depth = (90 + 36) cm

= 126 cm

= 1.26 m
