therefor = 3x years

now:

Son: (x + 3) years

Father: (3x + 3)years

3 years' time

Son: (x + 6) years

Father: (3x + 6) years

x + 6 + 3x + 6 = 76

4x + 12 = 76

4x = 64x = 16

present ages are

Son = 16 + 3 = 19 years

Father = (3 x 16 + 3)

= 48 + 3 = 51 years
