A metal P is an alloy of two metals Q and R. Metal Q has a mass of 70 g and a density of 16 g/cm3. Metal R has a mass of 19 g and a density of 4 g/cm3. Find the density of the alloy.

Answers

John
Volume of metal Q is

$\frac{70}{16}$ = 4.375 cm3

Volume of metal R is

= $\frac{19}{4}$ = 4.75 cm3
Total mass of metal P

= 70 + 19 = 89 g

Total volume of metal P

= 4.375 + 4.75 = 9.125 cm3

Therefore;

Density of alloy

= $\frac{Total\;mass\;of\;P}{Total\;volume\;of\;P}$

= $\frac{89}{9.1255}$ = 9.753
