3 year years ago; let son be x years, so father 3x years.

Now:

Son = (x + 3) years;

Father = (3x + 3)years.

In 3 years time:

Son = (x + 3 + 3) years;

X + 6 + 3x + 6 = 76

4x + 12 = 76

4x = 64

X = 16.

Present ages are

Son: 16 + 3 = 19 years

Father:

3 x 16 + 3 = 48 + 3 = 51 years
