The light microscope uses a ray of light for illumination of specimen while the electron microscope uses a beam of electrons for illumination of specimen.
In the electron microscope the specimen is supported in a vacuum while in the light microscope the specimen is placed on a glass lens.
The electron microscope has electromagnetic slide while the light microscope has glass slides
The electron microscope views dead and dehydrated specimen while the light microscope views dead or alive specimen.
In an electron microscope the specimen is stained with heavy metal to reflect electrons while in a light microscope it is stained with dye to enhance visibility
