Tropic movements are growth movements in plants in response to certain stimuli such as light and water which result in a permanent direction of the plant towards or away from the very stimuli, whereas nastic movements are temporal and reversible movements of plant organs in reaction towards or away from a certain stimulus such as touch or heat.
