In betrayal in the city we see people whose conscious has been silenced by their leaders,although they might be roaming around freely on the streets they are in real sense not free. They can not bring their leaders to account for their failed duties due to fear of being silenced.
The people working for the leaders of Kafira are also not free in the sense that they have to do it to please their bosses in order to keep their jobs even if they are asked to do terrible acts.
Kafira's leaders are not free themselves as they have gained dangerous enemies within their ranks e.g Mulili denies the boss at a difficult moment considering that they are cousins.
In betrayal in the city there are many instances where individuals or groups of people have been denied their freedom either physically or emotionally. Kafira itself has proven to be the prison outside the cell.
