Based on the number of users handled,the operating system is classified into two categories namely;single user and multi user operating system.

Single user;This operating system allows only one person to interact with the computer at time.A good example is MS-DOS.

Multi user;This operating systems allows two or more users to actively interact with the computer at a time.Example are window,UNIX,Novell or Macintosh
