i) They are weak/ fragile as a result of old age thus may have no energy to care for the children.

ii) Financial constraints because they are not employed and they are not given financial support by the children's parents.

iii) Too many children/ they are left with seven children giving them an enormous task to cater for their needs.

iv) Poor memory/ amnesia thus they may not remember to take children to the clinic for immunization

v. Grandparents may be having other responsibilities thus they have no time to care for the children.

vi) Adjusting to child rearing practices long after they had forgotten about it.

vii) Lack of knowledge/ current information on changing child care practices due to modernization/ stimulation

ix) Insufficient/ lack of food supply/ cannot farm/ do not have farm inputs/ lack land thus enables to provide enough food for children

x) Poor shelter/ most of them lack adequate shelter.
