While working as a watchman in a school, the narrator comes across a mirror in the corridor. He sees a reflection of himself in it.When he examines himself he sees that it was a person who".........looked exactly like me on the outside, but is definitely wasn't me."

The narrator realizes that the person he sees in the mirror really despises him. When he closely examines himself he does not like what he sees.He is shocked at his image in the mirror and thoroughly examines himself. We stood there staring at each other.

The reflection starts to move, his hand touching the chin then creeping to his face.He follows suit. The reflection is his consciousness and has decided to guide him instead of guiding it.Thereafter he is able to move from where he is spell bound and breaks the mirror, using his Kendo.

When the narrator checks out the scene the following day,he does not find any mirror. This scares him so much that he resolves not to keep a mirror in his house. He even has learned to shave without a mirror.
