Formation of raised river beds and banks.

During a flood, the river deposits in its sides and the flood plain.

Coarser materials are left on the river banks while fine materials are deposited further in the flood plain. Continued deposition by the river causes it to have raised river banks.

During the low rainfall season when the river is not in flood, deposition takes place on the river bed. Continued deposition on the river bed raises it.
