1.Transport barrier-the presence of a lake can be an obstacle to land transport. Goods are not transported to the market and therefore trading among different communities cannot take place.

2. Excess flooding can cause lakes to expand resulting in its waters flooding the neighbouring shorelands and hence the residents cannot carry out farming activities.
