Describe the formation of a spit

Answers

Faith
It forms at the point where the coastline changes its direction towards the land. Spits are formed on the shallow shores where the movement of materials by long shore drift is halted. The material are deposited in water. This continues until they bulge out with the accumulation growing towards the sea. The end of the spit is usually curved into a hook like feature called the hook of a spit. The hook is caused by minor waves which swing around the end of the spit. These waves carry some sand to the inner end of the spit creating a hook like feature.
