Wave action.
The breaking of waves is the main agent of wave erosion, transportation and deposition. Where waves erosion is dominant the coast will be characterized by wave erosional features while where deposition is dominant, the coast will be characterized by depositional features.

Tidal currents.
Tidal currents have limited influence. Coasts with large tidal ranges have more surface exposed to wave action. Where narrow sea inlets exist, the rising tide can set up a strong current in the inlet. A strong current is effective in deeply eroding the inlet as well as sea bed.
