ii) Describe how the circuit controls the temperature when the switch S is closed.

Answers

John
i) To make and break the contact or circuit. It bends when the temperature increases and straightens when the temperatures reduces

ii) When the switch is closed, the current o flow, heating takes place and the temperature of strip rises making it to bend away from contact disconnecting the heater. the temperature drops and the strip straightens completing the circuit

OR

(i) Acts as a thermostat
(ii) On closing, the switch, current becomes complete, the current flows causing heating effect,
the bimetallic strip bends downwards and contents separates.
when the room becomes cool the strip bends upward completing the current and the process
repeats itself on and off regulating the temperature
