1) Low grade ores- some of the ores and minerals have low value hence uneconomical to exploit.
2) Remote mining grounds- some of the minerals are located in very inaccessible regions making transportation activities difficult.
3) Environmental regulations- due to toxic compounds and wastes resulting from mining that contaminate the environment, there are strict policies governing mining activities which may be unfavorable.
4) Low capital- most Kenyans having average and low income standards, there is little investment into the mining industry.
5) Aging workforce- this incurs to the mining company the cost of training new workers to suit in their needs with relevant skills, a very expensive process.
6) Water crisis- most mining activities require plenty of water for processing which may be scarce in some areas.
7) High taxes- some minerals are shunned from being mined due to higher taxes associated with them.
8) Danger of collapsing mines- some mining grounds are located in areas with softer rocks like the limestone which readily collapse, claiming miners' lives.
