1.Forest Ecosystem
Has: -Plenty of trees
- Tall trees form canopy
- The soils are fertile due to the litter
- Little or no undergrowth
- Mostly creates a micro climate
- Most are ever green
- Home to various organisms

2.Desert Ecosystem
The desert biome has one major, distinguishing characteristic, the fact that it has very little vegetation. The climate is rather extreme depending on its location. The deserts of africa are extremely hot during the winters and warm throughout the rest of the year. There are also cold deserts such as those in Antarctica. These deserts are extremely cold during the winter and cold during the other seasons. Annual rainfall in the desert is less than 10 inches (25 cm) and, in some years, may be zero. Because of the extreme dryness of the desert, its colonization is limited to
- Plants such as cacti, sagebrush, and mesquite that have a number of adaptations that
conserve water over long periods;
- Fast-growing annuals whose seeds can germinate, develop to maturity, flower, and
produce a new crop of seeds all within a few weeks following a rare, soaking rain.

3.Savanah Grassland Ecosystem
(i) The most common trees species are the acacia and thorny trees.
(ii) In drier areas the trees are short and more scattered.
(iii) Along river valleys there are tall trees and thick bushes.
(iv) Savannah vegetation consists of trees and grass.
(v) In the wetter areas near the forests, the vegetation consists of tall scattered trees similar to those found in the forest or woodland.
(vi)The wetter areas also have tall thick grass.
(vii) Some trees are deciduous type and most of the trees are umbrella-shaped.
(viii) Gradually, away from the forest, the trees become fewer and shorter.
(ix) Where rainfall is lowest, grass is tufted and coarse or scrubs.
(x) There are scattered baobab trees and other drought resistant trees.

4.Freshwater Ecosystem:
It has the following features:
- The water salinity is low
- Host many aquatic animals
- Light penetration dictates the fauna and flora growth

5.Marine Ecosystem
- The marine ecosystem, in addition to the temperate and tropical oceans, includes the shorelines, with mud flats, rocky and sandy shores, tide pools, barrier islands, estuaries, salt marshes, and mangrove forests making up the shoreline segment. Marine ecosystems support a great diversity of life and variety of habitats. The ocean is a major influence on weather and climate.
