Carbon management refers to the efforts carried out to reduce carbon dioxide and other greenhouses gases emissions to the atmosphere of a place.

Carbon offsetting does not reduce greenhouse gas emissions through fuel efficiency or use of alternative energy, but it allows a person or a business to contribute to the environment by purchasing credits that compensate for emissions caused by voyage or an activity.
