The Mexica people were great engineers and their contributions to the world can be seen from their floating gardens of Tenochtitlan where a shallow lake provided food for the inhabitants. this engineering is similar to irrigation schemes in Netherlands where man made islands could be used for farming and terraced form of farming . The Aztecs are well known for their Pyramids which today the idea is used in building skyscrapers and tall buildings. The Aztecs also contributed in the formation of the modern calendar (which was derived from the Mayan calendar). The the Aztecs had a sophisticated form of education which was mandatory to all the people without discrimination. Today education is an important part of the society and a right that all people should receive basic education as the Aztecs did. The passion flower in Mexico was used by the Aztecs to treat insomnia, blood pressure and epilepsy this was the first account of the use Antispasmodic medicine. this medicines assist the muscles to relax and assist a lot in modern day surgeries. they also had good form of transport and communication between neighboring cities such as Mesoamerica as they used draft animals and wheels.
