Eutrophication is the release of harmful chemicals such as herbicides and pesticides as well as manures manures from agricultural land into the water bodies leading to increase of algae and blooms.
Effects are as listed below:
Causes hypoxia which is reduced oxygen in the water body.
Causes increased oduors due to frequent decomposition in the water body.
Causes death of aquatic life such as fish.
Cause increased growth of phytoplanktons and increased zooplanktons feeding on phytoplanktons.
Reduces the water quality in terms of colour.
