Air is composed of many gases that are essential for life.
First of all is Oxygen. Oxygen is crucial in living organisms as it necessitates the process of breathing in living organisms. In organisms which are locomotive all rather, animals, oxygen is taken in to replace carbon dioxide which becomes toxic in their tissues, whereas for non-locomotive organisms; the plants oxygen is given out as a bye product, thus Oxygen helps in the process of breathing in and out.

Secondly, Carbon is the main chemical element of molecules that are found in living organisms. Carbon dioxide being an element of carbon is also a reagent of photosynthesis in plants, and also a product of energy for metabolism in living things.

Lastly, Nitrogen is a fundamental chemical component of the amino acids, the building blocks of protein that are later the main functional molecules of living organisms. It is also part of nucleic acid molecules, which serve as the basis for reproduction, heredity and protein synthesis.
