Increase in glacial drift
When the glacier is so heavily charged with glacial drift, it may fail to move the whole of it. It therefore leaves some of it behind as it slides over it. The material is pasted on the ground as the glacier moves ahead.
Rise in temperatures
Warm temperatures will make the ice to melt. As the ice melts some of its load is deposited. This is common in the temperate latitudes with distinct warm and cold seasons
Change in gradient
As a glacier moves it may encounter a gentle slope. It accumulates a lot of load and as it melts it deposits some of its load.
Friction underneath the glacier
As the glacier moves, friction between its base and the earth's surface causes deposition of heavy material embedded beneath it.
Increase in the weight of the glacier
A stationary glacier accumulates ice and grows to vast thickness leading to an increase in its weight. Pressure is then exerted to its base leading to melting of some of the ice. This leads to deposition of some of the material embedded in it.
