When a chemical equilibrium is established in a closed vessel at constant temperature, the concentration of various species in the reaction mixture become constant.
The state of equilibrium of a reversible reaction can be approached whether will start with reactants or products.
The equilibrium can be established only if the reaction vessel is closed and no part of the reactant or product is allowed to escape out.
When a catalyst is added to a system in equilibrium, it speeds up the rate of both forward and backward reaction to an equal extent. Therefore the catalyst cannot change the equilibrium point except that it is achieved earlier.
The equilibrium constant must be the same when the concentration of the reacting species change in time.
At equilibrium, the Gibbs free energy (DG) which is minimum and the change taking place at equilibrium proceeds without the change in free energy.
