-The first attribute of maps is the reference system; is a system used in describing the location of a place in a map through use of grids or representation using either latitudes and longitudes of the place as the reference system.
-Datum is the second and another fundamental attribute used in mapping mainly through mathematical or geometry transferring of the coordinate system used in longitudes and latitudes of a map onto the earth's surface.
-The next attribute of maps is using of a measurement system which is based on mainly calculations of the coordinates of specific points located on the earth's surface.
-The other attribute is projection of the coordinates that had been earlier calculated thus easily displaying them on flat piece of paper.
-The last attribute on mapping is maker's art where the marker makes some marks and colors representing different regions on the earth's surface to act as a guideline to anyone who might use the map in future before it is released to the public.
