The objectives of International Monetary Fund(I.M.F) include;

1: To promote international monetary co-operation through a permanent institution.

2: To facilitate the expansion and balanced growth of international trade and to concentrate merely on promotion and maintenance of high level of employment in member countries.

3: To assist in establishment of multilateral system of payment in respect of current transactions between different members and in the elimination of foreign exchange restrictions.

4: To promote exchange stability in order to maintain exchange arrangements among members and to avoid competitive exchange depreciation.

5: To reduce the dis-equilibrium in the international balnce of payments of members .
