2. Enhanced political consciousness among the Africans. This was accelerated by land grievances.

3. Racial segregation in provision of social amenities in towns. Africans received the least.

4. Alienation of most productive land for use by Europeans. This led to acute soil erosion as a result of overgrazing in small and overcrowded portions of land.

5. Widespread poverty among the Africans.

6. Creation of African reserves which were unproductive. As a result, many Africans became labourers in the European farms, towns and mines.
