Input devices: are electronic devices that accept data from the outside world and translate them into a form that a computer can interpret. Input devices can be classified into the following:
- Keyboard devices -it’s used to enter command and type text. It contain the following keys: functional keys, punctuation keys, alphanumeric keys, modification keys, numeric keys, navigation keys, windows keys and special keys. Types of keyboard is advanced technology keyboard, personal standard keyboard and universal serial bus keyboard.
- Pointing devices-they allow for absolute and relative movement. The devices include: the mouse, trackball, joystick, and touch screen.
- Data scanning devices-they allow for direct data entry into a computer system from a source document. This devices include; image scanner, optical character recognition, bar code reader, digitizer, optical mark reader as well as magnetic ink character recognition.
- Voice recognition devices-they allow input of data into a computer through speaking.
Vision input devices-they allow computer to accept data by just seeing an object
