(c) Fishing is a source of raw materials for the chemical industry. In Japan, fish oil and fat are obtained from such species as cod, sardines and cuttlefish. These are used in the chemical industries which manufacture soaps, cosmetics, medicines and fertilizers
(d) Fishing is a source of foreign income. Fish in Japan is not only for local consumption but also for the large export markets in other Asian and European countries. This earns the country foreign income which can be used to further development of the country.
(e) Fishing has led to the development of related industries. Fishing in Japan has stimulated the development of other industries such as shipbuilding, net making and repair, manufacture of packaging industries and storage facilities
