(a) Most fishing countries have established research centres to study the various fish species, their breeding habits and their requirements. This enables such countries to come up with fish species that are favoured by the conditions in such countries.
(b) People are being educated on the importance of fish and the fishing grounds. This helps communities to control pollution of the fishing grounds through other economic activities like agriculture and manufacturing.
(c) The government is set out to protect inland water resources. People have therefore been advised not to interfere with the regular flow of water through activities such as damming. Such activities interfere with the life of fish.
(d) Indiscriminate fishing should be banned. The immature fish should not be caught as this leads to the deposition of the fish stock in water bodies. Appropriate fishing nets should be used to prevent this problem.
(e) Laws that are meant to effectively manage the fisheries should be enacted by the governments.
